Owing to changing environment, the ship owner is always weighing the economic feasibility of up grading the vessels in the fleet. These changes can be attributed to regulations, operational requirements, changing market demands or a plain desire to make improvements. Depending on these, such conversion could be as short as a few weeks (for a small equipment installation) or lasting months (bulk carrier to tanker conversion).

Once the client identifies a need, our role begins. Right from the economic feasibility to the project management of the conversion in a repair yard, we support the client all along the way. The various stages may be outlined as:

  1. Economic feasibility study
  2. Concept design
  3. Classification approval drawings
  4. Production design
  5. Shipyard selection & negotiation
  6. Conversion project management

Our expertise in the conversion process is not restricted to types mentioned below. These are some of the common types, however, depending on the specific need of the client, with our expertise in providing the engineering, we can come up with solutions. A vessel in its operational life has to typically be dry docked twice every five years (once if there is in-water survey notation). Every time a ship goes for dry-docking, a ship owner has to bear a lot of burden. Apart from the cost of repair, there is a factor of loss of charter revenue. Our aim is to minimize this financial burden by means of proper planning and repair management.

A properly planned dry-docking with a good team to manage the process can save huge amounts of money. We do this as follows:
