Bid to tap adventure tourism potential

Water sports equipment such as aquatic Zorbs, water cycles, and rafts will be used at various tourist sports to woo adventure tourism enthusiasts. (Zorb is ball inside a ball with an air layer in between. Zorbing is the sport of rolling downhill in such a ball).

A demonstration of the equipment, held at Pookode Lake, drew a huge crow on Saturday.

Minister for Tourism A.P. Anil Kumar will inaugurate the launch of the equipment at a function at Pookode at 3 p.m. on Sunday, District Collector K. Gopalakrishna Bhatt told The Hindu.

Cost of equipment

A zorbing ball costs Rs.20,000 and a water cycle Rs.60,000.

This apart, two rafts, each costing Rs.1.25 lakh, would be purchased soon, the Minister said.
